Lenovo recently highlighted its environmental sustainability initiatives during the recent I.T. Interaction Philippines Inc. (ITIP) 22nd National Conference.

This event happened from November 13–15, 2025, and it featured David Sutton, Sustainability Solutions Lead at Lenovo Asia Pacific, who delivered a talk titled “Lenovo’s Path to Sustainability: Innovation, Responsibility and Change.”

There, details about Lenovo’s commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) were highlighted, along with the company’s goal towards net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050.

While 2050 is decades away, Lenovo outlined the following goals by 2030:

  • 50% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions from a FY 2018/19 baseline.
  • 35% reduction in Scope 3 emissions from the use of sold products.
  • 5% reduction in Scope 3 emissions from purchased goods and services.
  • 25% reduction in Scope 3 emissions from upstream transportation and distribution.

Lenovo also shared more specific goals, including the following FY 2025/26 targets:

  • Ensure 100% of PC products contain post-consumer recycled content materials.
  • Achieve 76% repair rate for returned PC parts, extending product lifecycles.
  • The company also promises to continue prioritizing waste reduction in its product packaging through the use of recycled materials. Currently, Lenovo has hit the following milestones:
  • Eliminating 3,737 metric tons of packaging consumption by weight since 2008.
  • Reducing packaging weight by 30% through bamboo fiber use in ThinkPad X1 retail boxes.
  • Cutting 54 tons of plastic tape annually from ThinkPad packaging.
