Malaysia’s Manufacturing Sectors Expands as New Orders Hit 8 Month High

KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia’s manufacturing sector is continuing its momentum into the second half of 2026, with the S&P Global Malaysia Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) holding a steady growth of 50.7. Attributing to the repeated domestic orders, new product launches, and a rebound in export demands from international markets, the total new orders achieved a new peak in eight months. Meanwhile the input cost pressures eased to five months low. Manufacturers in Malaysia remained cautious in headcount and output posture due to broader geopolitical uncertainties.
