
KUALA LUMPUR – In a parliamentary update today, the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani announced that the government is evaluating a new levy on every electric vehicle (EV) sold in Malaysia, and it will be going directly into a national reserve earmarked for building and expanding public EV charging stations across the country. This mechanism is aimed to resolve the consumer dilemma with EV charging networks given the rise in EV sales across the country.
