BEIJING – Chinese automaker SAIC Motor and U.S. giant General Motors have officially signed an agreement extending their 50-50 joint venture, SAIC-GM, by an additional 20 years through 2047. Under this renewed framework, SAIC-GM will shift its focus heavily towards intelligent new energy vehicles (NEVs), with plans to launch at least 30 electric and hybrid models by 2030 across its core Buick and Cadillac lineups. Market expansion plans are also on the way to export more of its Chinese-built EV models to international markets in South America, the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific.
