The School of Communication of Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) won two prizes at Malaysia’s first-ever Idea Pitching Competition dedicated to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

According to the report by NST, the event held on Dec 3 2025, at the Tan Hua Choon Auditorium, was organised by the Institute of Public Relations Malaysia Student Association-XMUM (IPRMSA-XMUM) in collaboration with the Institute of Public Relations Malaysia (IPRM).

The inaugural competition brought together participants from nine Malaysian universities, featuring 14 competing groups and attracting more than 500 Public Relations and Communication students nationwide.

In a statement, IPRM said in the Corporate Social Responsibility & Sustainability Project Idea (Category A), XMUM claimed the top two prizes. First prize went to Group 6 from XMUM for their project “The Clothes Reborn Programme: Building a Micro-circular System”, followed by Group 8 from XMUM with “My Kampung, My Journey”. The University of Wollongong Malaysia (UoW) secured third place with their project “Kira-Kira”.

“For Best CSR & Sustainability Project Presentation (Category B), Group 5 from UoW won first prize with “Zero Hunger: Meals of Hope”. INTI International University, Nilai, took second place with “My Green My Future”, while SEGI University placed third with “SoSure Media 2025,” read the statement.

Dean of the School of Communication, Prof Dr Wang Changsong, in his welcoming speech, said the competition aimed to empower students to transform CSR and SDG-aligned concepts into practical, impactful projects addressing pressing social and sustainability challenges
