Alam Flora Sdn Bhd (Alam Flora), part of Malakoff Environmental Solutions, has collected approximately 3.2 Tonnes of waste from three major areas in Kuala Lumpur during the 2026 New Year’s Eve celebrations. This marks a year-on-year decrease compared with 3.6 tonnes collected in 2025, reflecting a decrease of approximately 11%, as reported by The Malaysian Reserve.

The cleanup operation targeted high-traffic public areas, namely Bukit Bintang, Dataran Merdeka and the vicinity of the Petronas Twin Towers (KLCC). Commencing at 10:00 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, the operation concluded at 8:00 am the today, ensuring the city was restored to a clean and welcoming state at the start of the new year.

Shariman Yusuf Mohamed Zain, Chief Executive Officer of Alam Flora, said KLCC recorded the highest volume of waste collected at 1.4 tonnes, followed by 1 tonne at Bukit Bintang and 0.8 tonnes at Dataran Merdeka. “To ensure smooth operations, we mobilised a total of 152 personnel, comprising management staff, pre-cleaning teams, drivers and general crew across these key locations,” he said.

Shariman added that three compactor trucks were deployed for efficient waste collection, alongside the use of water jets to wash pavements, particularly in high-footfall areas. In addition, 36 mobile garbage bins with 660-litre capacity and 25 mobile garbage bins with 240-litre capacity were strategically placed to facilitate proper waste disposal.

He noted that this year’s waste collection was relatively manageable, especially at Bukit Bintang. “Crowd sizes at each location may vary depending on public preferences for celebration spots. Nevertheless, our teams remain fully prepared to manage waste collection efficiently, regardless of turnout,” he explained.
