Maritime Industry Unites Against Proposed Transit Tolls in the Strait of Hormuz

UNITED STATES – Eight major global shipping associations, including BIMCO, the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), and the World Shipping Council (WSC) urged international authorities to reject any compulsory transit tolls or service fees through the Strait of Hormuz. The industry groups warned that it goes against the United Nations Convention on the Law of Sea (UNCLOS) and sets a dangerous precedent thay could compromise freedom of navigation across other international maritime chokepoints.
