The Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) says Singapore’s sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) levy is a call to action to support the production and usage of SAF.

The report by News Strait Times noted that the levy is meant to prompt people to act, noting that what travellers say they will do and what they actually do can often be different.

“If you ask the man on the street, would you like to make a contribution towards sustainability, towards the production and supply of SAF?” said AAPA director general Subhas Menon

“Chances are you’d say yes…But quite often, actions and words are different. Everyone needs a call to action.

“That’s what the levy does. It’s a call to action. I think people will not be grudging if they pay S$1 to S$41 depending on where you fly and which class you fly because it’s going for a good cause,” he said at a media briefing at AAPA’s 69th Assembly of Presidents conference.
