TRIPOLI – A wave of explosive drone strikes tore through the Zawiya oil refinery complex west of Tripoli overnight, ripping through its critical fuel storage reservoirs. The airborne offensive scored direct hits on a major fuel depot, igniting a massive inferno in a tank holding approximately 4.5 million litres of gasoline and damaging nearby diesel units. Emergency crews were called and managed to keep the flames from spreading to the facility’s primary refining units, eventually bringing the fires under control with no casualties reported. The National Oil Corporation has declared a state of maximum emergency, warning that any further attacks will force them to declare force majeure and shut down the 120,000-barrel-per-day complex entirely.
