UNITED STATES – Global petroleum benchmarks extended gains, pushing Brent crude closer to USD 100 per barrel following escalating US-Iran strikes in the Strait of Hormuz and clear threats of regional export blockades. Fresh attacks on regional infrastructure and renewed mining threats along major shipping lanes have reignited concerns about long-term energy supply disruptions. With Middle Eastern transit chokepoints severely limited, Asian refiners and industrial operators face rising virgin fuel costs, sparking market-wide protests for alternative energy options and forcing strategic rerouting across global logistics networks.
