The state Perak government will continue to ensure that the development of renewable energy delivers optimal benefits to the people of Perak in terms of energy costs, economic opportunities, environmental sustainability, and long-term well-being, noted a report by New Straits Times.
Environment and Green Technology executive committee member Teh Kok Lim said Perak currently has 28 Large-Scale Solar (LSS) projects that are either operational or under development, with a combined capacity of 1,441.3 megawatts, making it one of the states with the largest solar capacity in Peninsular Malaysia.
“The Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Perak, through its strategic partner KAB Energy Holdings Sdn Bhd, has successfully secured two bids for small hydroelectric projects under the Feed-in Tariff 2.0 Scheme administered by the Sustainable Energy Development Authority.
“Both projects will be implemented at two strategic locations owned by the state government – Sungai Pulau in Hulu Perak District and Sungai Woh in Batang Padang District – subject to existing laws and regulations.
“Overall, these projects involve a total investment of RM102.32 million and are expected to serve as key catalysts for the state’s agenda in strengthening renewable energy development in Perak,” he said.
