Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will undertake a working visit to Johannesburg, South Africa, to lead the Malaysian delegation to the Group of 20 (G20) Leaders’ Summit for two days from Nov 22.
According to a report by NST, Anwar’s participation in the G20 Leaders’ Summit, in Malaysia’s capacity as Asean Chair, is at the invitation of South African President and G20 President Cyril Ramaphosa.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said the G20 theme under South Africa’s presidency, “Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability,” and Malaysia’s Asean Chairmanship theme for 2025, “Inclusivity and Sustainability,” are closely aligned in prioritising equitable and sustainable development for high-growth economies.
The G20 is a geo-economic grouping comprising 19 countries and two regional organisations: the European Union and the African Union.
G20 members collectively represent more than 85 per cent of global gross domestic product, 75 per cent of international trade, and 65 per cent of the world’s population.
