Gone are the days when sustainability was just a corporate checkbox. Now it has become a business necessity. As environmental regulations tighten and stakeholders demand evidence of progress, businesses face a new challenge: how to move from sustainability goals to measurable actions.

In an article by Salman Sahid on behalf Forbes Technology Council, it said that to navigate this challenge, businesses are taking advantage of AI and environmental intelligence to track, analyse and respond to their environmental impact.

The first is: Identify Your Environmental Performance Baselines

Before moving to improve your sustainability performance, the author noted, measure it accurately. But fragmented environmental data across systems from energy management to supply chain operations makes it difficult to see the big picture.

“Going with AI-powered sustainability platforms automates data collection, unifies metrics and uncovers insights across your business operations. Tools like Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability, IBM Envisi and Persefoni help aggregate GHG emissions, waste and resource data into a single, real-time view.”
