SHAH ALAM – Malaysia’s Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani stressed that incoming foreign direct investment (FDI) must actively complement domestic capabilities and not displace established Malaysian businesses. He warned that Malaysia should not just become a landing pad for foreign products to oust homegrown businesses, and the ministry will tighten its licence reviewing process, ensuring incoming investors transfer advanced technology, partner with local vendors, and integrate domestic small-and-medium enterprises (SMEs) into their regional supply chains.
